World Cup Biathlon is back, and the 2011/2012 season kicks off tomorrow from Oestersund, Sweden with the Men’s 20km Individual at 11:15 Eastern, 8:15 Pacific.
The IBU news department is playing it safe in its early season predictions but also picks out a couple dark horses that may give the favourites a run for their money this year.
Here is the start list.
First out of the gate for the new season: Biathlon Blog favourite Evgeny Ustyugov. But he is my go-to guy in the Mass Start, so I will play it safe and pick Emil Hegle Svendsen for the win tomorrow.
Representing Canada will be Scott Perras (bib 11), JP Le Guellec (bib 32), Brendan Green (bib 55) and Scott Gow (bib 102).
Leif Nordgren (bib 19), Tim Burke (bib 46), Lowell Bailey (bib 52) and Jay Hakkinen (bib 97) are the U.S. competitors.
