Victories for Fak and Mäkäräinen on Second Day of Sprints at IBU Cup 1

On the second day of competition at IBU Cup 1, things seemed to return to normal.

First, snow began to fall in Oestersund.

Second, the World Cup athletes put in strong performances in both the Men’s and Women’s Sprint.

Jakov Fak won the Men’s Sprint (news release), his first competition since a severe case of frostbite on his trigger finger last year almost ended his career.

Kaisa Mäkäräinen served notice that last season’s cup-winning performance was no fluke by winning the Sprint competition (news release) with three penalties. Kaisa looks real fast on her skis again, and the rest of field will have their work cut out for them to keep up!
