Two Golds for Norway in World Championship Pursuits

Emil Hegle Svendsen and Tora Berger won two gold medals for Norway today in the Pursuit competitions at the World Championships in Nove Mesto Na Morave, Czech Republic.

Svendsen won a thrilling final lap sprint over 3 other competitors, just pipping Martin Fourcade at the line. Anton Shipulin finished third.

Lowell Bailey was 13th, JP Le Guellec was 15th, Tim Burke was 32nd, Scott Gow was 50th and Russell Currier was 52nd. Here are the results and the IBU article.

In the Women’s Pursuit (results, IBU article) Berger won comfortably ahead of Krystyna Palka and Olena Pidhrushna, who each benefited from a crash by Olga Zaitseva and Ann Kristin Flatland on the final lap.

Megan Heinicke was 44th, Susan Dunklee was 47th, and Annalies Cook was 51st.
