Svendsen Returns to Top of Podium with Victory in Men’s 20 km Individual

Emil Hegle Svendsen won his second competition of the season, and his first since IBU World Cup #1, by outskiing the field in the Men’s 20 km Individual at IBU World Cup #5 in Ruhpolding, Germany. The conditions at Ruhpolding were excellent, a stark contrast from the challenging fog and wind of Oberhof.

Svendsen finished in a time of 50:39.4 with one penalty in the final standing stage. Second place went to Martin Fourcade (7.4 seconds back, one penalty) and Dominick Landertinger came in third (23.7 seconds back, one penalty).

Lowell Bailey posted his best result of the year with a 16th place finish, 2:29.7 behind Svendsen with two penalties. Brendan Green continued to build on a strong season with a 25th place finish, 2:59.7 back with one penalty.

Other North American finishers were Tim Burke (42nd place, 4:08.7 back, three penalties), JP Le Guellec (49th place, 4:28.6 back, one penalty), Leif Nordgren (64th place, 5:30.7 back, three penalties), Jeremy Teela (75th place, 7:40.9 back, five penalties), Marc-Andre Bedard (76th place, 7:44.1 back, five penalties) and Scott Perras (84th place, 9:56.3 back, seven penalties).
