With the World Cup and Nations Cup points settled for the season, its time to take a look at how North American biathletes compared against the world.
The Women’s Nation Cup was won by a resurgent German team. Led by Laura Dahlmeier, a new generation of female German biathletes are making their mark.
The Canadian women slipped back a bit this year, finishing 13th. The US women were 15th.
Norway continues to be a powerhouse in the Men’s Nations Cup, with a wealth of world-class biathletes to support the cause. Strong seasons by Nathan Smith and Brendan Green saw Canada finish 9th, their best ever result. The US Men finished 13th.
7 women finished with World Cup points this season. Susan Dunklee led the way in 17th place, just ahead of Rosanna Crawford in 21st. Megan Heinicke finished 37th, while Hannah Dreissigacker was 53rd, Annelies Cook was 72nd, Audrey Vaillancourt was 78th, and Claire Egan was 96th.
6 men finished with points, led by Nathan Smith in 16th. Lowell Bailey was 30th, Brendan Green 32nd, Tim Burke 34th, Leif Nordgren 40th and Scott Gow 79th.
