IBU World Cup #7: Germany wins Mixed Relay

The German team of Kathrin Hitzer, Magdalena Neuner, Alexander Wolf and Daniel Böhm won the Mixed Relay under beautiful sunny conditions in Presque Isle, Maine.

Hitzer kept up with the lead pack, and Germany took the lead for good during Neuner’s leg. Wolf and Böhm skied and shot well and Germany finished in a time of 1:13:31.6, using eleven extra rounds with no penalties.

France came in second, 27.9 seconds behind Germany, with only seven extra rounds and no penalties.

Third place came down to a last lap sprint between Russia and Germany, with Maxim Tchoudov holding the lead over Christian De Lorenzi. Russia took third place, 1:01.4 back with thirteen extra rounds and no penalties.

The U.S. team finished seventh, 2:47.2 back with thirteen extra rounds and one penalty. Canada came in 12th, 4:17.8 back with nine extra rounds and no penalties.

Tomorrow the Men’s 12.5 km Pursuit starts at 16:00 CET and the Women’s 10 km Pursuit starts at 18:00 CET.
