IBU Open European Championships Start Tomorrow with the Men’s and Junior Men’s Individual Competitions

The 2011 IBU Open European Championships start tomorrow in Ridnaun-Val Ridanna, Italy. This event is open for athletes under 26 years of age, and has a seperate category for Junior racers under the age of 21.

Some of the world’s top biathletes will be participating at these championships, including Russians Evgeny Ustyugov and Anton Shipulin and Austrian Dominik Langertinger.

The event consists of Individual, Relay, Sprint and Pursuit competitions.

The first competitions begin tomorrow with the Men’s and Junior Men’s Individual.

Here is the start list for the Men’s 20 km Individual. There are three Canadians participating: Tyson Smith is bib 14, Patrick Cote is bib 45 and Joel Pacas is bib 61. The four Americans competing are Leif Nordgren in bib 18, Bill Bowler in bib 31, Wynn Roberts in bib 57 and Russell Currier in bib 69.

Here is the start list for the Junior Men’s 15 km Individual. There are two Americans competing; Eathan Dreissigacher is bib 110 and Raileigh Goessling is bib 125.
