The Individual competitions wrapped up yesterday at the IBU Open European Championships, with Canada’s Audrey Vaillancourt stealing the show with a victory in the Women’s 15km Individual.
Vaillancourt missed only two targets on the way to becoming the first non-European to become a European Open Champion. A pair of Belorussians were close behind, with Nastassia Kalina 2.1 seconds back and Iryna Kryuko 9.7 seconds off the pace.
Andrejs Rastorgujevs won the Men’s 20km Individual in the narrowest of margins, beating Benedikt Doll by only 0.3 seconds. Maxim Tsvetkov of Russia was in third, 1:14.8 back. Scott Gow had an impressive top ten finish in ninth place, 2:50.4 behind.
Anastasia Evsyunina of Russia was the class of the Junior Women’s Individual, shooting 20/20 to finish 1:51.6 ahead of Anastasiya Merkushyna and 3:52.5 ahead of Lisa Vittozzi.
The Junior Men’s Individual was a tighter affair, with Rene Zahkna of Estonia taking the victory, 21.7 seconds ahead of Ivan Alekhin and 27.8 ahead of Artem Tyshchenko.
