Gabriela Soukalova got her first career IBU World Cup victory today in the Women’s Sprint in Pokljuka, Slovenia.
Soukalova has been enjoying the best season of her young career, but her victory was still a big surprise as her previous personal best was a 10th place finish. The rest of the podium was just as surprising with Miriam Gossner in second (two penalties, +2.1) and Nadezhda Skardino in third (no penalties, +30.1).
Rosanna Crawford improved her personal best performance with a 12th place finish (no penalties, +52.1), and Susan Dunklee (14th place, one penalty, +53.2) and Zina Kocher (16th place, two penalties, +1:06.3) had great races.
Sara Studebaker (36th, one penalty, +1:41.8), Annalies Cook (40th place, two penalties, +1:45.2) and Megan Heinicke (45th place, two penalties, +1:57.9) qualified for the Pursuit, while Megan Imrie was 90th and Lanny Barnes was 92nd.
