Anastasiya Kuzmina made history today by becoming the first Women to win gold in the Sprint in consecutive Olympics. Kuzmina was one of several women who shot clean, but was the class of the field with her skiing, giving her a 19.9 second advantage over Russia’s Olga Vilukhina and 21.7 seconds over Vita Semerenko of the Ukraine.
Susan Dunklee recorded the best-ever performance for an American women in an Olympic Sprint, finishing 14th (one penalty, +41.5).
All four Canadian women qualified for Tuesday’s Pursuit competition, with Rosanna Crawford 25th, Megan Imrie 31st, Zina Kocher 32nd and Megan Heinick 59th. Sara Studebaker (44th) and Annalies Cook (53rd) also qualified for the Pursuit. Hannah Dreissigacker was 65th.
