Good start to the IBU Cup Season for Canadians and Americans

Canadian and Americans placed well in the season-opening IBU Cup event this weekend in Idre, Sweden.

The event featured two Sprint competitions. Here are the results from Saturday (Men, Women) and from Sunday (Men, Women).

On Saturday the big story was the Norwegian 19 year-old rookie Hilde Fenne who came in first place in her first IBU Cup race. What a great way to start a career! Rosanna Crawford scored a top ten finish, with Megan Heinicke 26th, Annalies Cook 32nd, Audrey Vaillancourt 34th, Lanny Barnes 46th, Melanie Schultz 50th, Tara Geraghty-Moats 56th, Tracy Barnes 63rd and Yolaine Oddou 69th.

In the Men’s competitinon Julian Eberhard was the winner, while Scott Gow was the top Canadian with an impressive 5th place. Marc-Andre Bedard was 20th and Kurtis Wenzel was 45th. For the Americans Leif Nordgren was 44th and Sean Doherty was 73rd.

On Sunday Julian Eberhard won again, while Scott Gow slipped back to 17th. Marc-Andre was 21st, Leif Nordgren was 34th, Kurtis Wenzel was 43rd and Sean Doherty was 61st.

Bente Landheim made it two victories for the Norwegian women, with Lanny Barnes 13th, Audrey Vaillancourt 17th, Rosanna Crawford 24th, Annalies Cook 25th, Tracy Barnes 40th, Megan Heinicke 46th, Melanie Schultz 59th,  Tara Geraghty-Moats 85th and Yolaine Oddou 89th.

IBU Cup 2 starts next week in Beitostolen, Norway.
