France Wins Men’s Relay in Ruhpolding

The French team of Simon Fourcade, Jean Guillaume Beatrix, Alexis Boeuf and Martin Fourcade won a thrilling Men’s Relay competition today in Ruhpolding, Germany. Martin Fourcade pulled away from three other competitors on the final lap to seal the victory for France, who used three spare rounds.

Norway was second, 9.4 seconds back after using 8 spare rounds, just ahead of Austria (+9.7) with 9 spare rounds.

The U.S. and Canadian teams continued their habit of finishing one after the other, with the U.S. team of Lowell Bailey, Leif Nordgren, Russell Currier and Jay Hakkinen in 14th with two penalties and ten spare rounds, and the Canadian team of JP Le Guellec, Scott Perras, Scott Gow and Nathan Smith in 15th with four(!) penalties and ten spare rounds.

IBU World Cup 5 continues tomorrow with the Women’s Sprint at 12:15 Eastern, 9:15 Pacific (start list). Susan Dunklee (bib 5), Rosanna Crawford (bib 8), Zina Kocher (bib 23), Annalies Cook (bib 24), Sara Studebaker (bib 56), Megan Heinicke (bib 76), Lanny Barnes (bib 89) and Audrey Vaillancourt (bib 90) will be representing Canada and the U.S.
