Martin Foucade and Tora Berger won yesterday’s Pursuit competitions in Ostersund, Sweden. It was Fourcade’s second victory in three competitions, and the third win in a row for Berger.
Fourcade outsprinted Andreas Birnbacher for the victory after they each shot clean in the final shooting stage. Third place went to Anton Shipulin who beat out Arnd Peiffer and Emil Hegle Svendsen in a three-way race for the bronze.
JP Le Guellec was the first out of the start gates but ended up in 16th place after three penalties, including two in the final shooting stage. Other North American finishers were Tim Burke in 15th, Lowell Bailey in 21st, Scott Perras in 36th and Leif Nordgren in 59th.
Berger led the whole race, with only one penalty in the final shooting stage. Darya Domracheva moved up to second place after starting seventh, with only one penalty in the third shooting stage. Third place went to Andrea Henkel who shot clean.
Zina Kocher finished 37th, Susan Dunklee was 39th and Rosanna Crawford was 58th.
