Darya Domracheva and Martin Fourcade Win Pursuit Crystal Globes

For the second day in a row the winners of the competitions also took the crystal globes for the season. Darya Domracheva and Martin Fourcade each shot clean in the final standing shooting to secure their victories, giving Domracheva he first globe and Fourcade his third.

Kaisa Mäkäräinen was second for the Women (IBU article, results), 24.8 seconds back with two penalties, and Vita Semerenko was third (+32.1, two penalties).

In the Men’s competition (IBU article, results) Arnd Peiffer was second (+19.6) after missing one shot in the final standing shooting, and Emil Hegle Svendsen (+34.7, two penalties) barely hung on during the final lap to eke out Dmitry Malyshko (+40.5, two penalties) for third place.

Tomorrow the final crystal globes of the season will be handed out after the Mass Start competitions. Andreas Birnbacher has a healthy lead over Martin Fourcade, and will be heavily favoured to earn his first globe. Domracheva has a slim lead over Tora Berger for the Women’s Mass Start title, which will make for an exciting race. Magdalena Neuner has a commanding lead over Domracheva for the overall title, which, barring a total collapse, will mark a fitting end to her great (yet brief) career.
