US Biathlon Names 2018-2019 High Performance and Development Teams

US Biathlon has named its High Performance and Development teams for the 2018-2019 season. With the retirement of Lowell Bailey and Tim Burke, the High Performance Men’s team is just 4 members, while the women’s team is similar to last year with Susan Dunklee returning to lead the team.

Draft North American 2017-2018 Competition Schedule

Biathlon Canada has published the draft domestic competition schedule for the 2017-2018 season.

The draft features 7 North American Cup events, starting with the North American Cup 1 in Canmore, Alberta on November 24-26.

The Canadian Biathlon Championships conclude the domestic season in Charlo, New Brunswick on March 20-25.

The Western Canadian Championships will be held in connection with a North American Cup in Red Deer. This is the test event for the 2019 Canada Winter Games. The Eastern Canadian Championships will be in Brookvale, PEI.

Also of note is the IBU Cup and Youth/Junior World Championship trials which will be in Whistler, BC on January 5-7.

North American Summer Biathlon Champs – Pursuit Results

The results from today’s Pursuit competition at the North American Summer Biathlon Championships are now available on the Ethan Allen Biathlon Club website.

Nathan Smith won the Men’s category comfortably, despite 4 penalties. Jakob Ellingson was 22.6 seconds back with two penalties, with Sean Doherty in third, 29.4 seconds back after 5 penalties.

Susan Dunklee won her second gold of these Championships, crushing the field even with 5 penalties. Emma Lunder was second, 1:34.3 back with 6 penalties. Annelies Cook finished third, 2:16 back with 8 penalties.
