Anais Bescond Gets First Career Victory in Antholz Sprint

Anais Bescond, who had never been on a World Cup podium before in an individual event, skied her way to her first career victory in today’s Women’s Sprint competition in Antholz, Italy. Here is the IBU article on the competition.

Bescond had one penalty, but was quick enough on her skis to beat out Andrea Henkel (+6.7, no penalties) and Darya Domracheva (+10.1, two penalties).

Susan Dunklee had a career-best finish as well in fourth place, just missing the podium after shooting clean at 10.7 seconds back.

Megan Heinicke was the top Canadian finisher in 46th place, 1:50.7 back with two penalties. Other North American finishers were Sara Studebaker (57th, +2:02.3, two penalties), Annalies Cook (70th, +2:20.3, three penalties), Rosanna Crawford (68th, +2:14.9, four penalties), Megan Imrie (73rd, +2:23.8, four penalties) and Zina Kocher (83rd, +2:48.5, five penalties). Hannah Dreissigacker did not finish.
